The Franconia Township Communications Committee has been acknowledged by our Board of Supervisors as a resident-led advisory committee. Our FTCC website is linked on the official Township website as the "unofficial township site" on their community resources page. The function of the Communications Committee is first, and foremost, to improve the communication of information between the Township Board of Supervisors, the County of Chisago and the Residents of Franconia Township (or others that request to be on our email list).
Beyond that, we are wanting to create space for residents that have concerns, inspirations or just questions about something that pertains to the Township of Franconia. The residents are invited to meet monthly on the 2nd Thursday @ 7:00 pm at the Franconia Townhall, beginning 3/14/19. Any resident that wishes to bring a topic to the meeting can seek to find a group of like-minded citizens that share their interest. A resident that decides to take up a particular issue can choose to be a Resident Advocate and create a sub-committee to explore the viability of their ideas for solutions. The function of the Communications Committee in that situation would be to facilitate the conversation through notification to Township residents and helping the Resident Advocate gather support, if the interest is there. We are truly aiming to be By the People and For the People. Information gathered in a discovery process on a particular topic would then be organized and presented to the Township Board of Supervisors to determine appropriate action needed to move forward.
The current topics of interest will be noted on our Monthly Agenda and posted on the Home Page of this web site 3 days prior to the meetings. If a resident sees an agenda item that sparks their interest, they can then choose to attend the meeting to learn more about how they can get involved!
